Day 2: 'Team of Teams' Development (DoN)

"What impressed me the most about the 'Discovery of Nexus' is how we can improve so much after detecting our flaws, so going from one simulation to the next, but having the time to breathe and to debate what went well and what to improve, and how much improvement that can make."
Air Traffic Controller & Supervisor, Portugal.

Insightful Discussions

Learning doesn't happen in the doing; it happens in the reflection.

What You Will Be Able to Do

By the end of this programme, you will:

  • Communicate with precision and clarity – using closed-loop exchanges and structured briefings so messages are understood the way they’re intended.

  • Strengthen situation awareness – spotting when attention has narrowed, anticipating what’s coming next, and sharing cues across the team.

  • Make better decisions under pressure – applying structured models (SPORDEC, TDODAR) to slow down when it matters and avoid outcome bias.

  • Lead and follow effectively – adapting your style to the task and team, creating psychological safety, and ensuring role clarity in high-risk environments.

  • Debrief for real learning – using the DEBrIEF framework to identify what worked, why it worked, and how to improve both individually and as a team.

  • Recognise and manage stress and fatigue – adjusting plans early to protect safety margins before small issues spiral into major problems.

These aren’t abstract theories. They are behaviours you will practice and refine, so you can apply them immediately in your daily operations.

Why This Training Matters

Incidents rarely occur because of an undetected gap in technical skills; they happen when human factors are ignored—when stress, time pressure, poor communication, or unclear leadership push good people into bad situations.

Technical skills get you going in 'normal' operations; non-technical skills help with successful outcomes in abnormal, uncertain or time-critical situations.

Proven Impact from Past Participants

Leaders, managers and supervisors who completed this training reported:

  • Greater confidence in speaking up, even against authority gradients.

  • Noticeable improvements in team planning, communication, and trust during complex activities.

  • Increased ability to identify and correct small deviations before they become safety-critical.

  • A stronger culture of learning, not blame, within their teams.

  • Practical skills they could apply immediately to both simple and complex tasks.

"I found the before and after effect on the task really powerful, and for adult learners, they really need to see and feel the difference, so you aced this."

HSE Executive, Denmark

“The course unravelled me in the best way. It showed me blind spots I didn’t know I had, but also gave me the structure and support to fix them. My team dives better because I lead better.”

Media Diver, Natural History Production

“My initial reservations were rooted in thoughts of, “this safety course will only serve to make my team, and I too risk adverse; Safety getting in the way of producing operational output.” The opposite is the truth. The programme introduces HF/NTS, uses practical exercises and case studies. As professional divers, my team and I are so technically oriented, that prior to The Human Diver programme, the level of thought placed on non-technical skills and human factors, was quite low.  I am confident that this programme has improved the performance of my team so they can be safer.”

Director of Diving Safety, NATO Diving Organisation
