Applied Human Factors: Improving Diver Safety and Performance

Most accidents and adverse events in diving are not down to undetected technical failures, but rather a breakdown in communication, poor decision-making or a lack of situational awareness, or more likely a chain of events which are based around these human factors.

Enrol Now - 11 March Boston Sea Rovers

The Boston Sea Rovers class will be a unique one-day class which will look at the role of human factors in diving incidents and accidents using theory, practical exercises and case studies to reinforce the theory.

What will the class cover?

Human factors is a massive subject covering everything from the individual interactions with a piece of equipment through to human performance in a group, to how organisational and societal culture impact decision making and performance.

This class will focus on a number of aspects of human factors and how this knowledge applies to divers. They include non-technical skills (see interdependence diagram on the right), incident investigation and Just Culture. There will be seven 45 mins seminars with opportunity for questions and discussion between.

More detail about the class

As this will be a detailed and 'full-on' class, retention of information is likely to be limited. Not because I am poor teacher, but because you'll have loads of new stuff to remember!

To that end, each attendee will be added to the online micro-class (worth $99) after the seminar which you will have access to for as long as I run these programmes. The online course is available to view on computers and mobile devices so you can take the learning wherever you go.
