You want to improve your ability to communicate and solve problems under water.
You want to improve your situation awareness and the ability to make more effective decisions on a dive.
You want to be a better leader and follower in diving.
You want to prepare yourself and your team for things that could go wrong underwater.
You want to be able to improve on every dive, and learn in a non-judgmental way.
If so, then you've come to the right place.

You will understand how to improve your situation awareness pre-, during, and post-dive so that each dive is safer and more informed than the last one. You will also understand how to examine others' events and extract the maximum learning from their stories, by being curious, and not judgemental.

The knowledge contained within the HFiD: Essentials class is not covered to this level of detail in any of the training agency materials, but it is critical to diver safety, instructor competency, and general enjoyment on a dive. The knowledge is applicable to all divers, from Recreational OW, to Tech and Cave divers, to Course Directors and Instructor Trainers.

You'll see the world through fresh eyes—not just in diving, but in everyday life. This course enhances your diving performance by building knowledge and awareness while also providing skills and insights to help you be more effective in your professional and personal life.
You will have built the foundations for a personal culture of learning, along with gaining knowledge and awareness of how to influence the diving industry to be a safer, more enjoyable place. You will be a leader, even if you don't hold a title that infers leadership. You will be a trail blazer when it comes to improving the learning surrounding unexpected and unwanted events in diving.
You will be better than yesterday

As a previous recreational dive instructor, now technical diver, and leader of non-diving organizations, I can whole-heartedly recommend this course as foundational to your diving, your career, and your personal life. The principles within, if you are attuned and open to learning, may just postitively influence your character across all domains.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It would be beneficial for anyone to take this course because it's not only extremely informative and well-articulated, but also because it forces you to reflect on your personal experience on the topic. Our reflections then allow us to identify areas of mistakes or things we are doing well and therefore improve our instruction.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a technical and scientific diver, the course has opened my eyes to the many facets of human factors and deepened my understanding of how accidents unfold, even when everything seems like business as usual. Certainly a course that holds a lot of value for any diver.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very well put together course. Having done the Level 1 course prior to the Essentials, it is appealing how the concepts have been condensed without losing the plot or the essential details without oversimplification. Well organized in a stepwise fashion to make concept retention natural and illustrated with an excellent case study and additional resources.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As an aspiring technical team diver, I'd say this course provides a superb foundation to enable people to become better team divers, who think about their actions more carefully to the benefit of the team. And discuss those thoughts to help the whole team reflect and improve.
Getting insight behind the cause of mistakes and accidents in the diving world is extremely valuable as a recreational dive professional, because its giving me more insight into things to look out for both in myself and my students that could potentially create risk. It will also help me teach them to look out and communicate about them, creating a safer and more productive atmosphere in the courses.
There can be large egos involved at the higher levels of technical & CCR diving. Being able to put those egos aside to create a safe space to ask questions, challenge current processes, & recognize when an issue, no matter how minor, arises & what it's effect on both an individual diver as well as the dive team is paramount.
Each module is divided into lessons of approximately 5-15 mins long, meaning the content is delivered quickly and effectively.
